Craig Scott’s outstanding musicianship, strong melodic ideas and beautiful upright bass sound has established Craig as one of Australia’s leading bassists for over 25 years. His ability to provide tasteful and sensitive accompaniment to any musical setting makes Craig a much “in demand” musician.

Australian jazz musician Craig Scott first came to the attention of the Australian jazz loving public nationally via the popular ABC program “The Burrows Collection”, (a series presented by well-known jazz musician  Don Burrows), Craig appeared in the series with Don Burrows, James Morrison and many of the “new” breed of jazz musicians who were a product of the Jazz Studies program at the Sydney Conservatorium.

He began his career in 1979 with the Keith Stirling Quartet. Since that time he has been a member of many other jazz groups led by such well-known Australian jazz identities as: Don Burrows, Graeme Lyall, James Morrision, Juilian Lee, Judy Bailey and Roger Frampton.

Craig has also accompanied  many visiting international jazz artists including: Lee Konitz, Bobby Shew, Red Rodney and Urbie Green.

As well as a busy performing schedule Craig Scott is also actively involved in jazz education as Chair of the Jazz Studies Unit at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and coordinator of the Master of Music (Jazz) degree programme.

You can hear Australian Jazz musician Craig Scott take some beautiful bass solos on “Tea For Two”; “Lady Be Good” and “Ain’t Misbehavin” on the new Pippa Hayes album It Had To Be You
